Three of the most significant pieces of the Gold Coast Railroad Museum Miami is the Ferdinand Magellan Presidential railcar, the Winston Co. No. 48 steam locomotive and the Crown Locomotive 24″ gauge 4-4-0. The Ferdinand Magellan Presidential train became noteworthy from the fact that it was the only Pullman that was custom built by Pullman railcars for ferrying the presidents of United States in the 20th century. Assembled in 1928, the Magellan is a spectacular piece preserved by Gold Coast Railroad Museum Miami since it was among the last trains made for private use and one of the six cars named after eminent explorers.

Steam powered locomotives are an idea that now only exists in books. However at the Gold Coast Railroad Museum Miami, you can see this concept practically. The Winston Co. No. 48 steam locomotive is among the earliest of steam trains that plied American railroads. It was manufactured in 1922 by ALCO-Cooke Works as a light industrial use train. Its slide valve kit makes it among the last pieces that utilized this ancient technology. The Crown Locomotive 24″ gauge 4-4-0 on the other hand, is momentous for its ability to use coal instead of firewood to power up. It is still operational although it uses a compressor chamber in one of its carriages.

Some major events hosted by the Gold Coast Railroad Museum Miami include weekend train outings, historical tours of the trains and long distance train trips in different wagons. At times, the museum also organizes children events such as the Edwin link children’s Railroad rides.
